The SMD-8TR is Meiji Techno America’s Trinocular Zoom 7X – 45X Stereo Microscope package with Incident Ring Light LED on a Boom Stand for Surface Mount Device Inspection. The EMZ-8TR microscope body has all three tubes active meaning the trinocular tube along with both eyepieces is all active simultaneously, 80/20 split 80% of the light is directed on the trinocular tube and 20% to the eyepieces. There is no beam splitter lever that you have to pull out. The trinocular tube gives the microscope the ability to accept SLR / HDMI /USB 2.0 / USB 3.0/ Analog C” mountable camera’s with the proper adapter. This will allow the engineer to incorporate observation , image capture of still and live video and measurement capabilities while providing an on-screen interface for viewing real time live images. This is Meiji Techno America’s complete turnkey microscope package, based on our EMZ Series microscopes. Those who must work to the most demanding standards of the SMD industries require a microscope system for assembly, repair, inspection and Quality Control. The SMD Inspection Series is equipped with Meiji Techno’s most versatile Boom Stand which can be adjusted vertically or horizontally and side to side to address the ergonomic needs of every production or test engineer. Equipped with an auxiliary lens which gives the user over 6 inches of working distance. This allows ample working room to allow the engineers to solder and work on PCB boards being inspected without compromising Ergonomics. An electronic device so made is called Surface-mount Device (SMD). In the industry it has largely replaced the through-hole technology construction method of fitting components with wire leads into holes in the circuit board. Since different technologies can be used on the same board, with the through-hole technology used for components not suitable for surface mounting such as large transformers and heat-sinked power semiconductors.
Meiji Techno America offers a variety of illuminations as an option because where components are to be placed, the printed circuit board normally has flat, usually tin-lead silver or gold plated copper pads without holes, called solder pads. Our Inspection Series allows the boards to be visually inspected for missing or misaligned components and solder bridging, if needed, they are sent to a rework station where a Meiji Techno Microscope system is used to inspect errors and repaired by a human operator . They are sent to the testing stations (in-circuit testing and/or functional testing) to verify that they operate correctly. Defective surface-mount components can be repaired by using our stereo zoom systems by using soldering irons (for some connections) , or using a non contact rework system. In most cases a rework system is the better choice because SMD work with a soldering iron requires excellent Optical Microscope quality and considerable skill. This system can also be used in the SMT and Medical Device Manufacturing which requires accurately documenting, inspecting and analyzing information accurately and efficiently in your R&D division.
The EMZ-8TR zoom body offers direct light to all three viewing ports simultaneously. The EMZ-8TR is designed for high-contrast images and an excellent zoom range of 6.5:1 that is parfocalled all throughout the zoom range. The EMZ-8TR employs Greenough optics for improved image flatness and contrast. As a result, images are brighter and more distinct even at the periphery of the field of view. The EMZ-8TR offers erect unreversed stereoscopic images which contribute in making high resolution observations in precision-oriented semi-conductor, medical device, and routine inspection. In addition to its compact design and versatility, a wide variety of auxiliary lenses and stands are available to allow the user to customize their desired working distance to adapt to almost any application. It has photomicrography made easy with over 300 available digital, analog and SLR camera adapters.

The S-4100 Boom Stand is Meiji Techno America’s most popular Ergonomic boom stand with pillar, crossarm and a 20mm drop down mounting post accepts F, FX or FC holders, (must be ordered separately) or focus blocks with a 20mm mounting hole which are commonly available from microscope manufacturers. Equipped with a 400mm (15.74″) vertical pole and a 530mm (20.86″) horizontal pole. The S-4100 offers minimal space requirement and greatest possible amount of work room. The S-4100 can swing out of the way easily, clearing the workstation for other tasks. The horizontal arm can be moved freely left to right or can be securely locked into position with our T handle knobs. Extra length vertical posts are available in other models. The vertical column is used to compensate for taller specimen heights to accommodate the working distances of different microscope bodies. Anti-rotation is stabilized by a locking pin on the vertical post.
The S-4100 Boom stand provides a comfortable amount of space for preparing mice, insects and other model organisms or semiconductor and electrical components. The S-4100 is equipped by a 35 lbs. base. The S-4100 boom stand is designed for the zoom (EMZ Series), turret (EMT Series) and fixed (EMF Series) stereo bodies. This boom stand is an affordable; low cost with high quality safety features makes this boom stand unmatched value in its class. This stand has ample height and long reach to work on an inspect small to large parts under the microscope. Ergonomic flexibility, chemical resistant paint finish and corrosion resistant stainless steel columns makes this boom stand an excellent choice in labs and production facilities.
NOTE: Requires F, FK, FX or FC focus block

F Coarse Focus Block/Holder is a focusing holder with rack and pinion mount that allows smooth, precise focusing over 55mm of travel. Coarse focus mechanism incorporates a slip clutch and tension adjustment. Fits 20mm diameter, 71mm long mounting post. The 84.2mm diameter opening accepts all EM Series stereo bodies.
Meiji Auxiliary lenses can be added to EM Series microscope bodies simply by screwing them into the threads below the objectives. They can either increase or decrease total magnification, but they are frequently used to increase the working distance of the microscope.
Auxiliary lenses with magnifications less than 1x increase the distance at which the microscope will focus on a specimen, and lenses with magnifications greater than 1x will decrease the distance. However, this is particularly useful for users who need to work with their hands under a microscope.
Meiji Techno’s variable intensity LED ring illuminators deliver a high level of illumination over a selected field of view with excellent uniformity. The ring light cord is approximately 5.5 ft long. Auto voltage sensing.
